P90x Round 2, Day 24 - Kenpo X, 2 mile run
Diet :
Breakfast: Oatmeal, Juice
Lunch: Salad with Turkey, Cottage Cheese, Carrots and Celery
Snack: Granola Bar, Jello Pudding, Mixed Fruit Cup
Dinner: Vegetable Fritata
Unplanned Snack: Serving of Vegetable Pasta, Skinny Cow Bar
Summary:
Another day in the books. I went out for another run this morning BEFORE my Kenpo workout to try and change things up and it worked out for the most part. I only got 2 miles instead of 3 in because I had to head back to the house and use the restroom. I have no idea what I will do if this happens during a longer run, I guess I'd go back to the house, use the restroom and then continue my run. Same thing I'd have to do during a race I suppose.
Got a good Kenpo workout in after the run. I fast forwarded through the breaks to keep my heart rate up and give me a better workout. All in all a good workout.
Diet today went well until after dinner. Was pretty hungry so I ate a small portion of leftover vegetable pasta and a 100 cal ice cream snack. Feel better after eating it, but I might have been able to get along without it.
Running and Stretching(?) tomorrow. Strange to have stretching mid-week. I think I'll do the stretching after the run in order to maximize the stretching.

P90x Round 2, Day 20 - Kenpo X, 5 mile run
Diet :
Breakfast: Gatorade 2, Protein Bar
Lunch: Turkey and Pepperoni Sandwich with baked Lays
Snack: Granola Bar, Yellow Rice
Dinner: Healthy Lasagna, Garlic, Berries and Whip Cream
Unplanned Snack: None
Summary:
What a long day. Woke up early this morning and hit the road for another 5 miles run. That's two weeks in a row with a good long run on Saturday. It's nice to get the whole run in and not have to walk and I think after another 5 mile saturday and next week's training runs I'll be ready to start my marathon training. It's hard to believe that in a matter of weeks I'll be running 6,8,10,12 miles at one time. Luckily it's getting slightly easier to run on a regular basis. I'm not sure if it's conditioning or losing the weight that I am, but I imagine it's some combination of those two.
I started a Kenpo workout later in the afternoon with my wife thinking I might be able to double up on it like I did last weekend but that didn't work out as well as last weekend. I was just too tired to put in another cardio workout. I was on the move from the minute I woke up and by the time the afternoon rolled around I was just out of gas. I got about 1/2 the workout in and then decided to help coach my wife and get her some encouragement to get that little bit extra out of her workout.
Diet was good today as there weren't any cheats planned or unplanned and we had some friends over for healthy lasagna. It's actually really good. Turkey, cottage cheese instead of ricotta, fat free cheese, whole wheat noodles, and then pack the sauce with TONS of vegetables. We haven't had it in a while and it was really quite delicious. Might eat it for lunch tomorrow.
I imagine if I hit the scale tomorrow I'd be pleased with the results but I'm going to hold off for next Friday and hope that I can give 100% this week and put up the best numbers I can for my first 4 weeks and new pictures. I'm really interested to see how the pictures turn out and I'm really interested in the Day 1 to Day 120 pictures as I imagine those will be the biggest change. I doubt I'll post them online, but if things keep up like they are I'm pretty sure I'll post the Day 1-Day 180 pictures at the end of this round.
Recovery week isn't my favorite thing, but I'm going to fight to give it my best effort. 2 Yoga workouts and no weights. And on top of that the Core Synergistics really taxes my back sometimes. But we'll survive I'm sure.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

P90x Round 2, Day 13 - Kenpo X
Diet :
Breakfast: None
Lunch: Turkey and Roast Beef Sandwich, Whole Wheat Goldfish
Snack: Granola bar, Jello Pudding, Pumpkin Muffin
Dinner: Steak and Shrimp Japanese Food, Spicy Tuna Roll [PLANNED CHEAT]
Unplanned Snack: None
Summary:
I was able to sleep in a little this morning and work up feeling like a million dollars. I got out of bed, stretched a bit and went out and ran 5 miles in just under 53 minutes. It was a pretty tough run but I finished it without stopping and felt pretty good about it afterward. It's still interesting to me how different every run is to me. I would assume that it'd be similar every run, but it's not. Some days 3 miles is a breeze, some days every step is a chore, I suppose that's part of the allure of running. I've got to repeat this same running schedule next week so it'll be interesting to see if next week's 5 miles is any different.
I almost called it day with the running, but the wife was doing Kenpo today and I figured I would be her moral support and do it with her to encourage her. Alot of work I didn't want to do but after finishing it I guess I felt better.
Cheat meal was today. I feel a little groggy after eating it with the additional intake, but I think overall the day wasn't off the charts. It'll be nice to get back on schedule tomorrow and stretch out and get to work again.
Feeling alot better today and I'm hoping I can ride this energy into better results next week.

P90x Round 2, Day 6 - Kenpo X, 4 mile run
Diet :
Breakfast: Raisin Bran w/ Skim Milk
Lunch: 6" Turkey Subway sandwich w/ double meat
Snack: Peanut Butter and Strawberry Protein Shake
Dinner: Red Beans and Rice w/ Sausage, Grilled Potato Salad, Caesar Salad, Hush Puppies
Unplanned Snack: None
Summary:
Today was a long day. I decided against waking up early to do my run favoring sleep instead, but I got it all done later in the afternoon. The wife and I are both doing P90x this time around in case I haven't mentioned that. She's doing the P90x "Lean" but after the first two days for the week we are on the same schedule which is nice. So today we worked out together and rocked out some Kenpo X. I love this workout. It's absolutely the best workout in the program and it really flies by and I barely feel like I'm working out.
Today was also my "long" run. I didn't know if I'd be able to get 4 miles finished because I should have been running that distance for the last 2 Saturdays but I wasn't able to get it finished. I was able to get it finished today though. It was brutally difficult and hotter than hell when I decided to run it, but I finished it. I'm not sure how I'm going to finish 5 miles next week though. I ended up sweating off about 40 gallons of sweat, but I finished it. I'm sure I'll be wrecked tomorrow.
Today was cheat meal day. We ended up going out to a local southern cooking place and there wasn't the healthiest stuff on the menu, but I ended up doing what I felt was ok. I didn't sweat it too much though because it was my cheat meal.
Anyways, I'm tired and my calves are exhausted but overall I'm doing pretty well and I'm looking forward to wrapping up week one with a good stretch.

P90x Day 69 - Kenpo X, 1 mile run
Just because it's a weekend, doesn't mean you can't get a little bit of exercise going.
Today was a really good workout. Kenpo is my favorite workout I think of all the DVDs. It really goes by quickly and at the end you've ended up with a pretty good workout.
I had to ease up on 2 exercises during the workout because I could feel it starting to really workout my back. I still completed them, but I had to go a bit easy on it.
I also got a really good run in today too. Finished the mile in about 10:30 and then walked with my wife for about another 1/2 mile. Overall it was really good.
Really glad that I ended up turning this week around. Feeling really good right now and with 3 weeks left I'm optimistic that I'm going to end up on a high note.

P90x Day 48 - Kenpo, 1.5 mile run
14 minutes left in the day when I started this blog so I don't have long to type in order to get my post submitted before my self-imposed blogging deadline.
I got a really good Kenpo workout today and then went out for a 1.5 mile run. I ran a slightly different route today that instead of it being 1.5 flat miles it's 1 flat mile and .5 of pretty hilly running. I finished in just under 15 minutes so considering that it was much hillier and I still ran under my 10 minute "pace. I'm feeling much better with my running lately. My legs are still feeling really good and I think my conditioning is starting to come around. Hopefully over the next 2 months my lungs will catch back up to the point that running is back to being second nature.
Next week I bump the mileage up to 2 miles. We'll see how that goes.
So far this weekend is going pretty well. We'll see how it goes from here.
Stretching tomorrow.

P90x Day 41 - Kenpo X, 1 mile run
"I'm singing in the rain, just singing in the rain; What a wonderful feeling, I'm happy again"
There is nothing like Kenpo to start you back in the right direction. I got a great workout today and it was absolutely everything that I needed. I really worked it about as hard as I have during Kenpo and I was soaked when it finished. Soaked in sweat but if felt great.
So then rather than just shut it down I decided to lace up my shoes and go for a run. It was raining and I almost didn't run but I figured that I was already sweaty and I wanted to run so screw it. I actually got a great run in and running in the rain was really calming and relaxing. There wasn't anyone outside and it was really quiet and peaceful. I got alot of thinking done out in the rain and I really felt like the rain was washing away the last week and putting all of the obstacles in my way behind me. I could have ran the whole run with my arms out like Andy in Shawshank just letting it was away everything. The run overall was really good. My legs continue to feel great while I'm running and I think my lungs are coming around. I just got a mile in today and it was by far the best run since the time change. I think next week I'm going to bump to to 1.5 miles and see how it goes.
I'm going to stretch tomorrow instead of resting I think. I've rested enough recently and I think I should get stretched out in anticipation of what I hope is going to be a great week of workouts. I'm tempted to add one more workout week into this phase because of all the sub-par workouts that I got in this week but I'm not going to. This is a marathon and not a sprint so I don't need to get bogged down in the fact that I didn't get 100% out of this last week. I'm trying to focus on the fact that tomorrow will be 6 weeks of continuous non-missed workouts and not on the fact that some of them haven't been my best effort.
Only two weeks left until my next weigh-in. I'm really hoping that I can put up at least the same numbers as last time. But if I can't I'm hoping to be under 240. I feel like I can see a change in the mirror so maybe once I take some pictures I'll be able to see the progress in them if I don't see it on the scale.
I hope everybody reading this has a great rest of the weekend.

P90x Day 34 - Kenpo X, 1 Mile Run
Despite being sick I'm actually feeling great right now. I had so many low energy spikes during my first 30 days, and not having them this last week is really nice. Sure there have been some days were I was sleepy or drugged up, but I haven't just felt depleted like I did last month. Maybe it's adding the running back into the program, who knows.
I still feel pretty stuffed up but I can tell the meds are working. I'm actually glad that I have a 10 day supply of antibiotics because I think that'll get everything else out of my system as well. I'm hoping that by the end of next week I'm feeling as good as I've felt in a while.
Today was Kenpo and again I had a great workout. I have yet to have a lousy Kenpo workout because it's so much fun for some reason. I really look forward to this workout and it flies by when I'm doing it. I never did Tae-bo when it was out, but I imagine that I would like that.
I decided that I was feeling pretty good today so I went for my run. I actually got probably the best run in so far. My side was cramping up late in the run but I finished it out and got a good run in. It was such a great day outside today. It's probably in the high 70s today and a slight breeze it was so nice. If I could have it be this weather all the time it's absolutely amazing.
I'm watching my Auburn Tigers destroy LSU in basketball right now. I really hope the comittee is watching this game. We're almost a bubble team and I think if we can win a game in the SEC tourney we're almost surely in the NCAA. That'll be awesome. We've won 7/8 down the stretch and are playing some of the best basketball I've seen them play in a long time.
Rest or Stretch is tomorrow. I'll probably break out the stretch but who knows. It's always nice to get a rest day. I can't describe the peak that I'm on right now, it's absolutely energizing to be feeling so well. It's funny that it took me getting this sick to feel this good. Maybe it's that roids shot they gave me yesterday. They did say it'd make me feel alot better. Anyways, that's it for today.

P90x Day 24 - Kenpo X
Kenpo today. Man I love this workout. It really is the most fun of all the DVDs. I found myself after the workout going "Finish him" and "Fatality" and humming the stupid Mortal Kombat theme. I'm such a dork.
I got a later start than usual today. I hit the snooze button for what seemed like forever and squeezed out almost 45 minutes extra sleep this morning. I didn't really enjoy being so far behind the schedule, but I felt alot better when I woke up. I guess that's just something you have to do every so often.
Energy is still high today. But usually after those "crash" days like Monday I'm riding high for a few days. I still haven't figured it out exactly but it isn't really bothering me. So far it hasn't been enough to lead me into binge eating so I'll just chalk it up to the yin-yang of exercising.
One day closer to Sunday. I'm getting very nervous about the weigh-in. If I get on the scale and don't see any results after a month of pretty strict eating and daily workouts I'll be bummed.
Anyways, it's stretching tomorrow. I wonder if I'll sleep in a bit tomorrow since this is a shorter workout. We'll see. I'm looking forward to pressing play on that though and getting a good stretch.

P90x Day 20 - Kenpo
I almost missed my self-imposed posting deadline today.
Woke up a little off schedule today and was up for a while before I did my Kenpo. It was sorta strange not doing the dvd the second I climbed out of bed but it worked out ok.
I really do enjoy the Kenpo workout so far more than any of the other dvds. I'm not sure what it is but it's alot of fun, still challenging, and I get a great workout in.
I can't believe tomorrow is 3 weeks. 7 days from tomorrow I'll be weighing in and seeing my progress for the first phase. I honestly cannot wait.
My diet on the weekends tends to be significantly different than my weekday diet. The weekday is repeatable and I eat lunch at work. But on the weekend I'm at home, my schedule is a bit different, the family is around so eating tends to be different than usual. We didn't eat out at all today which is sorta rare for a weekend, and I think we did pretty good eating around the house.
Anyways, enjoying a relaxing weekend. So far I haven't missed a workout or a blogging. Although today was cutting it close.

P90x Day 13 - Kenpo
KENPO IS FUN!
Man I honestly love this workout. It is a ton of fun. I'm covered in sweat by the end that's for sure, but I feel great. And the time really zips by while you're doing it, I hardly even notice it's been an hour.
Feeling great today. Looking forward to going out tonight with the wife and some friends and having alot of fun. I'm going to try to have fun without sucking down alot of alcohol and feeling like crap tomorrow. I'm going to try to keep my eyes on the prized even though I'm going to go out and have fun.
I can't believe the second week is already finished. Only one more time through this cycle and then it's the 4th week of new workouts which should be fun.
My biceps are pretty sore but not painful, and other than that I'm injury free and feel great. It's nice to finally be able to say that after about 2 weeks.
Rest/Stretch tomorrow. Maybe I'll stretch instead of rest this time around.

P90X - Day 9 Kenpo (Swapped For Plyo)
I woke up this morning and felt pretty good. My calf is feeling better than it has in 4 days and I tested it with a few jumps this morning before deciding to swap Plyo for Kenpo. It's a cardio workout either way but I didn't think that that jumping on it all day was in my best interest.
After I made the decision to switch workouts, I'm not sure why but I really began to fill my head with reasons to quit. I kept saying "you can't do plyo, go back to sleep" or "why switch, just take the rest day" and I really do not have any reason why this hit me all of the sudden, but it did. Regardless I sucked it up and got my workout in with a really good Kenpo workout.
I'm feeling really good about being 10% done with the P90x. I can feel that the "new" is beginning to wear off and for whatever reason I'm starting to have to work at getting up and getting my workouts in. Every day I get up and get it done I'm pumped at the end of it to have completed.
Looking forward to shreding my shoulders and arms tomorrow. Can't wait to push play.

P90x Day 6 - Kenpo X
Wow, I finally feel good.
My arms aren't killing me anymore like the first 4 days, my back feels better today than it did yesterday, and other than my calves I feel really good.
My calves are KILLING me right now as a result of yesterday's leg exercise and today's Kenpo. I probably didn't focus enough yesterday on stretching them out because I woke up this morning and they were really tight.
The wife and I rocked some Kenpo this morning and I really enjoyed it. I didn't know how much I would like it but it was alot of fun. And I can tell that it really stretches you out and builds flexibility. I didn't get much of an arm workout if that's suppossed to be something you get in this, but my shoulders and upper back are feeling it today.
I really really wanted to weigh myself this morning and see how much if any progress I've made this first week but I'm not going to. I'm going to fight to stay off the scale until day 31 as planned. It's going to be tough though.
I'm really looking forward to the rest and stretch day tomorrow. I think I fell asleep before my wife last night which hasn't happened in ages. I don't even think I made it to 9pm.
Anyways, I'm hoping I can avoid injury today, but right now after Kenpo I feel pretty stretched out and full of energy and optimism.
I'm looking forward to pressing play on tomorrow's stretch DVD. Who knew I'd actually be looking foward to a P90x DVD :)
